About The Backgrounder:
On June 6th, the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development (ENVI) will hear testimony from the CEOs of five major oil and gas companies, focusing on their efforts to significantly reduce emissions in line with Canada’s international climate commitments. These hearings will scrutinize the companies’ climate pollution track records amid their record-breaking profits since 2021. The committee’s goal is to publish a report on its findings and present it to the House, ensuring transparency and accountability in the oil and gas sector’s contributions to climate action.
