Join members of the Calgary climate movement to explore how Alberta can benefit from the global energy transition, while avoiding the economic challenges associated with the declining demand for oil and gas.
Environmental Defence Canada, The Calgary Climate Hub, and For Our Kids will host an interactive, action-focused discussion about what Alberta needs to start doing, and what we need to stop doing, to position ourselves to succeed in the new global energy environment.
We need to stop polluting our air and water with poisonous gases. Claire Kraatz, an Organizer with For Our Kids Alberta, will explain why cutting methane is essential for clean air, healthy kids, and thriving communities, and how parents and caregivers can use their voices to drive meaningful change.
We need to start taking matters into our own hands. Jared Blustien from the Calgary Climate Hub will inspire us with a list of programs we can access and actions we can take to reduce our energy footprint in Calgary. Balcony solar anybody?
We also need to start having an adult conversation about the energy transition. Environmental Defence Canada’s Stephen Legault will provide a behind-the-scenes peek at the energy landscape of the future, and how Alberta is either going to steer the ship or miss the boat entirely.
