It’s summertime and the living is easy. And there’s no better place to spend the lazy, hazy days of summer relaxing, cooling off or enjoying nature than at a nearby beach.
There are thousands of beaches across the country to explore and we want to see the best of the best! Once again, our Blue Flag program is hosting the annual Life’s a Beach Photo Contest. This year, we’re asking for images that capture what makes your favourite Canadian beach so great—whether it’s people swimming, or the sand dunes, or Piping Plovers hopping down the shoreline. You could win up to $1,000 of brand new camera gear.
The Blue Flag is an internationally recognized and respected eco-label that is awarded to beaches and marinas that have achieved international standards in water quality, environmental management, environmental education, and safety and services. This year 25 beaches and six marinas in four provinces across Canada proudly fly the Blue Flag, joining an international community of more than 4,000 beaches and marinas around the world that have the eco-label.
The Blue Flag can help you find a world-class beach or marina to visit to capture some great outdoor shots. When you see a Blue Flag flying, you know that a beach or marina is clean, accessible, meets high safety standards and is sustainably managed. Blue Flag beaches also have excellent water quality for swimming. No matter where you are in the world, Blue Flag offers a consistent standard of excellence.
Want to participate in the contest this year? It’s easy! Simply snap your best shot and head to either blueflag.ca/photocontest or our Facebook page to enter. Be sure to provide caption to let us know where the photo was taken.
