For over 40 years, we have been working to create lasting and meaningful change. We do so by:
- Encouraging governments to enact policies to protect Canadians’ health and environment.
- Working with industry to build a clean, prosperous economy.
- Educating Canadians about how they can take meaningful action.
There are 5 principles we follow:
Being politically non-partisan
Our mission is to defend the environment, not to advance the goals of any specific political party. As such, we work with political leaders of all stripes to advance environment focused policies.
Sticking to the facts
We do our own research and we consult peer-reviewed science and experts in their fields. We then use this information to identify threats to our environment and design good solutions. We have established ourselves as a credible voice by basing our work on facts.
Getting results
Since 1984, we have been carefully selecting issues, setting ambitious yet achievable goals, and making progress. You can see what four decades of impact looks like here.
Working cooperatively
We know that our work is more effective when we collaborate with other organizations, communities, unions and Indigenous groups. We all have a role to play in defending our environment. Together, we form a stronger voice.
Following the law
We do not participate in unlawful activities.
