Bisphenol A (BPA) has been making news in more countries than just Canada and the U.S. A news article was published in the Taipei Times about a new study researching BPA and baby bottles. BPA is a hormone disruptor than has been associated with serious health impacts. The study found that over 15 per cent of baby bottles tested had BPA leach at levels above the limit set by the European Union (EU).
The article cites professor of chemistry, Ling Young-chien, as advising parents to refrain from heating baby food in polycarbonate containers (hard, clear plastic), and not to use hot water or harsh detergents when washing dishes.
