Keith Brooks,
Program Manager, Blue Green Canada

Keith’s concern for the environment originally grew out of his passion for wilderness, spawned by many summers spent canoeing through Northern Ontario and, later, the Northwest and Yukon Territories.

At an early age, Keith found wilderness both beautiful and awe-inspiring and he felt strongly that these wild spaces were special, and their preservation something worth fighting for.

Over the years, Keith’s approach to the environment has changed significantly. Today, he considers himself to be a humanist as much as he is an environmentalist, and is equally concerned with preserving and building on humankind’s accomplishments as he is with the preservation of wilderness.

Now, Keith spends too much time thinking about ways to harmonize our environmental and economic objectives – so more people can enjoy a decent quality of life today without undermining the natural environment upon which we depend, and which still offers him refuge.

Keith holds a Bachelor of Environmental Sciences from the University of Guelph and a Master’s of Environmental Studies from York University. He lives in Toronto with his wife and two children.
