Sara Jarvis
Development Manager
Sara discovered her passion for nature from the back of her horse, riding on trails around a beaver pond near her home outside Ottawa. She became passionate about the environment after those same trails were lost to developers for over-sized suburban houses while she was studying Economics with a minor in English Literature at the University of Western Ontario. Her first experience of environmental activism was in the “War of the Woods” in 1993 to stop old-growth logging in Clayoquot Sound. After working in the arts with bands and comedians and riding racehorses as an exercise jockey in the UK, she found her feet as a fundraiser for international, educational, and environmental charities and is thrilled to be a part of Environmental Defence’s Development team. In her spare time, Sara enjoys being creative – whether it is arts and crafts, vegan baking and cooking, DIY, or gardening.
