About The Submission:

As Canada debates tariffs on low-priced, Chinese-made electric vehicles, Environmental Defence believes Canada both can protect the jobs and investments in its own domestic EV sector whilst speeding up access to affordable electric vehicles at the same time. In this submission, Environmental Defence highlights that the only reason low-priced electric vehicles from China pose any kind of threat to Canada’s auto industry is because legacy automakers in North America have refused to bring affordable electric vehicles to the market. This submission also contains our policy recommendations for the government to develop a “made-in-Canada” affordable EV strategy.
