About the letter:

This submission is Environmental Defence Canada’s response to the federal government’s consultation on the “Getting Major Projects Built in Canada” discussion paper. The federal government has proposed sweeping changes to how major projects are approved that would put Canada’s environment, waters and rarest and most vulnerable species at risk by dismantling decades of environmental protections. If approved, the changes would amount to an unprecedented deregulation of projects like mines, dams, pipelines and polluting industries. Environmental Defence Canada is extremely concerned about the government’s proposal and urges the government to abandon the proposal in full.
