About The Backgrounder:
The Canadian government tabled Bill C-50, the Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act, to support the creation of sustainable jobs for workers in a net-zero economy. The Act provides an important opportunity for Canada to align our approach to addressing our workforce and regional economic development with our climate goals. Yet, it is missing a few major elements to give Canadians the certainty that the transition will be both equitable and climate-aligned.
Environmental Defence, in partnership with Ecojustice, the Pembina Institute, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), Equiterre and Climate Action Network Canada, have proposed amendments to improve the legislation.
