New Government, Same Big Oil Playbook: 2025 Fossil Fuel Lobbying shows fossil fuel companies and industry associations met with federal officials 986 times in 2025, nearly four times per working day, despite a three-month election-period lull. Enbridge (107 meetings), Shell Canada (77), and Suncor (71) were the most active corporate lobbyists, while the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers led industry association lobbying with 138 meetings. The Ministry of Natural Resources remained the top target, followed by Environment and Climate Change Canada and Finance Canada, highlighting the continued influence of Big Oil on federal decision-making.
