About the letter:
A coalition of environmental, health and Indigenous organizations have submitted a letter to the federal government, urging it to not provide any public subsidies or tax credits for the proposed Pathways Alliance carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. This letter highlights that CCS has a poor track record, is extremely expensive and risks locking Canadians into fossil fuel infrastructure just as the global economy shifts to cleaner, cheaper alternatives. It also points out that the oil sands companies behind the Pathways CCS project refuse to invest their own capital, signaling a lack of confidence in the projects viability.
