About The Briefing:

As the government rolls out its national hydrogen strategy, critical decisions about Canada’s future role in the emerging hydrogen economy must be made. The most important steps for decarbonizing our economy remain increased electrification, wide-scale use of renewable energy and intensifying energy efficiency. In addition, Canada needs a just transition to plan a phase-out of all fossil fuels and their associated infrastructure in line with climate science. The Government of Canada must stand firm and not allow the oil and gas industry to exploit
this opportunity as a last chance to create a market for its product. The development of a
hydrogen strategy must be truly green, building on Canada’s renewable energy advantages.
