Canada’s federal government provided or announced at least $18 billion in federal support and subsidies for fossil fuel companies in 2020. But that total is an underestimation, as we’re missing a lot of public transparency from the government and oil companies around this financial support, especially tax breaks. It’s been more than a decade since Canada made this important climate promise, and yet little progress has been made.
Time to Stop Funding Fossils
There’s no two ways about it: the Canadian government has to stand up to the oil and gas industry and end fossil fuel subsidies. Take action today and tell the federal government to stop using our tax dollars to finance pollution, environmental destruction, and injustice.
