Fast-Track PFAS Action

Right now, industry is delaying crucial government action by denying the harms caused by PFAS, a.k.a. “forever chemicals.” But a new motion to fast-track federal action (M-119) gives us the chance to push back.

Thank you for urging your MP to support this motion, and actions to stop continued PFAS contamination.

First:

  • Introduce yourself as a concerned constituent.
  • Tell them why you care about this issue, and that you are seeking action to protect your family and community from the severe health impacts linked to forever chemicals, such as liver damage and cancers.
  • Let them know that you’re calling because you want them to support M-119, the motion pushing to fast-track strong, comprehensive PFAS regulations.

Talking Point to Consider:

  • Tell them you want to see the government lead Canada toward a less toxic future and protect our right to a healthy environment.
  • Ask them why action has been delayed, and if they will support fast-tracking action on the whole class of PFAS, as requested in M-119.
  • Share that addressing all sources of PFAS matters to you, including in firefighters’ gear, and in the products we use everyday—from clothing to personal care products.
  • Urge them to resist the PFAS lobbyists undermining the regulation of PFAS as a class.
  • Ask them to create a strategy to phase out PFAS, and to stop further contamination of our water, air and soils.
