About The Report:
Every day, cleaning and personal care products that lack ingredient lists and warning labels expose Canadians to toxic chemicals that are linked to allergies, endocrine or hormone disruption – and even cancer.
To enable consumers to reduce their exposure, Canada needs better labelling rules to inform consumers about harmful ingredients in cleaning and personal care products. Our focus groups, conducted by Environics Research, found broad support for full disclosure ingredient labels and warning symbols. However, we also detected misconceptions about household product safety that stronger labelling rules could help address.
Take Action
For too long, harmful chemicals like triclosan and BPA have been allowed put the health of Canadians at risk. It’s time for the federal government to strengthen toxic chemical regulation – including making full ingredient disclosure and health warning labels mandatory on cleaning and personal care products.
