Blue Flag beaches must have excellent water quality. Tests have to be taken frequently and 80% of the results must meet national standards. For freshwater beaches, the test for E.coli must read below 200cfu/100mL to be considered good for swimming. For saltwater beaches, the test for Enteroccoci must be below 35cfu/100mL to be considered good for swimming.
