About The Backgrounder:

This backgrounder provides an analysis of why their is no business case for LNG in Canada. Public funding should not be allocated to LNG development as it represents a transfer of taxpayer resources to private corporate profits, particularly benefiting foreign companies in an already mature and oversupplied global market where Canadian projects face competitive disadvantages. Such subsidies would burden Canadians with both environmental and economic costs while diverting limited public funds away from initiatives that could provide genuine benefits to citizens, especially considering that the LNG industry’s projected economic returns are likely overestimated while environmental impacts and electricity costs are undervalued.
