About The Backgrounder:
On October 16th and 17th, 2023, Suncor’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rich Kruger will testify in front of the Natural Resources and Environment Parliamentary committees respectively, to answer for his recent comments in a shareholder meeting, where he called for Suncor’s operations to be less focused on reducing their greenhouse gas emissions and more focused on maximizing profits. The comments from Rich Kruger came in the midst of the worst wildfire season that Canada has experienced in recorded history and disregarded the catastrophic impacts that many people in Canada faced as their communities were engulfed in flames.
