About The Submission:
Julie Segal, Senior Program Manager of Climate Finance at Environmental Defence Canada, testified to the Canadian federal government’s Standing Committee on Finance (FINA) on June 13th, 2023. The committee was studying green finance, investment, and taxonomy. She recommended that 1) any green or transition taxonomy should be led by the government and should only include activities that help keep global warming below the safer limit of 1.5°C, and 2) that Credible Climate Transition Plans are required across the Canadian economy.
