About the letter:
This submission provides feedback on the Competition Bureau’s proposed guidelines for implementing the Competition Act’s new greenwashing provisions, as part of their second round of consultations. Environmental Defence Canada welcomes the draft’s inclusion of many of our initial recommendations to strengthen anti-greenwashing rules. Our key recommendations for improving the guidelines are to require companies use the highest standards of evidence for environmental claims, and that the Bureau closes investigation and enforcement loopholes.
