About The Backgrounder:

The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) is urging the federal government to weaken industrial carbon pricing and rely on Alberta’s ineffective TIER system, while opposing stronger methane regulations and calling for greater industry influence over climate policy. Its proposals misrepresent market realities and carbon pricing impacts, and would undermine federal guardrails, delay emissions reductions, and increase Canada’s economic exposure as global demand for fossil fuels declines.
