About The Submission:

Seventy-three organizations and 106 academics have called on the Government of Canada to stop all public financing of the fossil fuel sector, including petrochemicals and plastics, ahead of COP29. The letter stresses that continuing to fund fossil fuel projects, whether directly or indirectly, undermines Canada’s credibility on climate action and could set a dangerous global precedent. It outlines key recommendations, such as ending financial support for fossil fuel-derived hydrogen, LNG, and carbon capture, while also redirecting funds to renewable energy projects, particularly for Indigenous and equity-deserving communities.
