About The Backgrounder:
The Government of Canada has committed to introduce a new regulation to cap emissions from the oil and gas sector and decrease them at the pace and scale necessary to achieve Canada’s climate commitments. This year’s historic wildfires are very clearly showing what is in store for us if greenhouse gas emissions continue to increase.
Fulfilling this commitment would make Canada the first major oil and gas producing country to implement an emissions cap, setting a strong example for the rest of the world.
