Both open mics lean towards the acoustic side of things, but electric instruments are welcome (though plugging directly into the PA or bringing a small amplifier is preferred).

Hundreds of classic vehicles line downtown Oshawa streets to admire during Kars on King, in the heart of downtown Oshawa.

Grandpa Henry’s Picnic is back at the Oshawa Museum on July 14, 2024! Take a trip down memory lane and experience an afternoon in our heritage gardens with your family. Discover the fascinating history of the Henrys, one of Oshawa's earliest settler families, on your journey. You might be surprised to learn that Thomas Henry used to organize a special picnic for his grandchildren every year, and we're continuing that tradition he started over 150 years ago!
This year, you can bring your own picnic and treat yourself to hand-churned ice cream and popcorn. There will be games, races, costumes, and tours of Henry House and the garden, so there's something for everyone to enjoy!
The admission fee for Grandpa Henry’s Picnic is $5 per person, but if you're a member of the Oshawa Historical Society, you can get in for free! Make sure to join before the event to take advantage of this discount. The picnic will run from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., but you're welcome to stick around and explore the grounds afterward.

Join us Monday, July 1 for unforgettable fun and entertainment. Our celebrations kick off at 10:30 a.m. with a parade through Historic Downtown Port Perry, featuring our annual “Vettes for Vets”, along with antique cars, community groups, bands, and more.
While the parade ends in Palmer Park, the fun has only just begun! After opening ceremonies, the day is packed full of live performances, activities in the Kids’ Zone, incredible food and artisan vendors, and tons of exciting events for the entire family. It’s time to lip sync for her legacy! Celebrate June as Pride Month with a glorious extravaganza of glitz and glam, featuring fantastic, fun, and feel-good drag performances. It’s a celebration of love and all that is FAB-U-LOUS! NOTE: Drag is a tipping industry and tips are greatly appreciated. If you would like to tip a performer, please bring cash. Join Animal Services, the Pickering Public Library and Indigenous artist Victoria Grant for an evening of fun and educational learning. Victoria Grant is an Anishinaabe Mi’Kmaq, Metis artist living in Durham Region who has spent her life training and creating art through various mediums. Victoria will be guiding attendees through step-by-step instructions on how to paint native wildlife scenes on canvas.
No experience is necessary, and attendees will be given stencils to assist with the drawing process. Victoria will also share her knowledge and teachings around the connection between indigenous culture and the wildlife that surrounds us.

He’s worked with the local group Climate Justice Durham since 2019, helping Durham Region to prepare for the climate crisis. In addition to delegating to local municipal councils on behalf of Climate Justice Durham, he has also been a member of two committees that advise Durham Regional Council on local environmental issues. Currently, Peter is pursuing a Supply Chain and Operations diploma at Durham College, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Toronto.
