Invest in people's health and the environment - not polluters

The federal government is deciding whether to give the Canadian economy a multi- billion-dollar kick-start in an effort to recover from the COVID-19 health crisis. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Canada to invest in a Green and Just Recovery – a sustainable stimulus package focused on increasing employment and helping Canada transition to a healthier and more equitable economy.

But there’s a problem – some of Canada’s biggest polluters, like oil, gas and petrochemical companies, are pushing hard for the federal government to funnel this recovery spending into their pockets instead.

Call Minister Freeland today and tell her you do not want billions and billions of dollars handed over to big polluters that will compromise our environment and lock us into catastrophic climate change. Instead, demand that she support a Green and Just Recovery, capable of shifting Canada towards a stronger, equitable, and more sustainable society.

Talking points to consider:

• Introduce yourself as a concerned citizen.
• Consider telling Minister Freeland why environmental protection is important for you.
• Ask Minister Freeland to speak up for a Green and Just Recovery – which means investing in people’s health and the well being of the environment above corporate profits.
• No investments from the federal government should set environmental progress back or conflict with Canada’s environmental commitments.
