Highway 413 is coming to Caledon: What do I need to know?
The Ontario government is planning to build a new 400-series highway through Milton, Georgetown, Caledon, Brampton and Vaughan. Join us for a free online community information session about the highway, how it will impact Caledon and the surrounding region, and what we can do about it.
Unless we push back hard and fast, large swathes of the GTA’s remaining farmland, wetlands and woodlands will be swallowed up by car-dependent sprawl. Between now and July 1, 2022, the provincial government is forcing every Greater Golden Horseshoe municipality – yours included – to rush through a “Land Needs Assessment” and a “Municipal Comprehensive Review” it hopes will enrich rural land speculators by locking in 30 more years of outdated and environmentally damaging residential, commercial and industrial sprawl.
The good news is that a group of concerned residents and urban experts have found a solution to stop the province’s plan for “The Big Sprawl” – by devising ways for municipalities to technically comply with provincial rules – and accommodate millions of new jobs and residents without expanding settlement areas.
