Ottawa, Ont. – Today, the Governor General will open a new session of Parliament with the Speech from the Throne. The speech will set the agenda for the parliamentary session and lay the groundwork for the COVID-19 recovery plan.
The federal government has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build back better and create the foundation for a more sustainable relationship with our planet, and a healthier future for all of us. Over the summer, huge numbers of people across the country have been calling for a just and green recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Speech from the Throne will be a clear moment for the government to signal its commitment to a green recovery.
