Media Advisory/Interview Opportunities: Environmental Defence spokespeople available to comment today on the collaborative report on climate change action from the federal and provincial Auditors General

Ottawa, Ont. – Today, the federal Auditor General, along with most provincial Auditors General, will release a collaborative report that assesses their respective government’s progress on climate change policy and action. This report will let citizens know if Canada as a whole is stepping up on its international commitments to reduce carbon emissions, and whether provinces and territories are doing their fair share.

This is the first time that Auditor Generals from across Canada have cooperated to give a comprehensive view of climate protection measures throughout the country. This report will likely point the way to greater leadership and action at the federal, provincial and territorial levels. Canada’s last report to the United Nations showed that the gap is growing between Canada’s 2030 emission reduction target, and how much the Pan Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change will reduce carbon emissions.
