Summer is finally here! And there’s no better place to spend the lazy, hazy days soaking up the sun than at a beach near you.
This summer, Environmental Defence is asking Canadians to share what makes their favourite beach the best. But we don’t want you to tell us. We want you to show us!
Once again, our Blue Flag program is hosting its annual Life’s a Beach Photo Contest. For the contest, photographers are invited to send in their top photos highlighting the best of their favourite Canadian beach—whether it’s people splashing in the water and playing in the sand, or the natural features and wildlife that make it so unique. There’s a gift card prize valued at $1,000 for new camera gear up for grabs.
If you’re looking for a world-class beach to capture some great outdoor shots, just look for a Blue Flag. Blue Flag is an internationally recognized and respected eco-certification that is awarded to beaches and marinas that have achieved high standards in water quality, environmental management, environmental education, and safety and services. There are 26 Blue Flag beaches in Canada to explore. Find a full list here.
Want to take part in this year’s photo contest? It’s easy! Just head over to blueflag.ca/photocontest to enter online and for full contest rules. The deadline is August 31st.
