Enbridge is coming under fire from Environmental Defence that claims the company is misleading the public.
The watch dog organization contends Enbridge is planning to ship what they term “dangerous” tar-sands oil through a pipeline to Montreal on into the U-S. Environmental Defence Spokesman Adam Scott points to a document recently filed by Enbridge to the National Energy Board.
Enbridge’s Graham White says the only application they’ve made to the NEB is to expand the line from 240 thousand to 300 thousand barrels of oil per day. He says they still plan to transport light crude.
Enbridge already has regulatory approval to reverse the flow of Line 9A to transport crude from Sarnia to Westover. The company will apply for approval to reverse the line from Westover to Montreal by year’s end but has no plans to reverse the flow past Montreal.
