Toronto – A Canadian global warming video has gone viral on YouTube, becoming the most watched video in the Non Profits and Activism category. More than 27,000 people have watched the video that was produced with actors and movie makers donating their time. After watching the video, hundreds of Canadian parents are uploading pictures of their children to an online  “wall” that will be projected on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on the opening day of the UN Climate Change meeting in Copenhagen on December 7.

Called “Moms Against Climate Change,” the initiative is a partnership
between Environmental Defence and ForestEthics to give Canadian parents a forum for joining together and demanding global warming action from Canada’s political leaders.  Moms Against Climate Change was produced
pro-bono through communications company zig, based in Toronto and Chicago. Popular indie pop group Stars provided the soundtrack for the TV ad, and more than 100 child actors volunteered for the film shoot in downtown Toronto.
“Parents are a powerful force, which our political leaders ignore at their own peril,” said Merran Smith, Climate Director, ForestEthics.  “Global warming is not some distant issue out there that we can pretend isn’t happening. It has real consequences for our children. And, we have to act now for the sake of our children. Parents understand this.”
The 30-second version of the ad is running on CTV, CanWest, W Network and the Weather Channel. The 90-second ad is on YouTube at (or search YouTube for “Moms Against Climate Change”)
