Janet Patterson

A grade school teacher taught Janet about the importance of protecting the natural world, which sparked Janet’s passion for the environment. After living in several countries in Europe and Asia, earning a degree at McGill University, and a brief stint at film school, things came full circle for Janet when she decided to work in the environmental arena. Janet has spent the last decade raising funds for environmental organizations, including six years at the Toronto Wildlife Centre. She has organized countless events, large and small. She enjoys event management because of the opportunity to connect face-to-face with the community of people who believe in Environmental Defence's work. That’s why, after three years as Environmental Defence's Senior Development Officer, Janet switched to focus on events full-time, as Environmental Defence’s Event Manager.
