Rock the Line
On October 6, 2013, Sarah Harmer, Gord Downie & The Sadies, Hayden and Minotaurs rocked out to raise awareness about the risks of Enbridge’s Line 9 tar sands pipeline. Over 2,000 people attended the free concert at Mel Lastman Square, which was hosted by Vish Khanna, and had a special introduction by Elder Garry Sault of the Mississaugas of New Credit.
Enbridge wants to use Line 9 to ship heavy crude, which could include tar sands oil, across some of the most populated parts of Ontario and Quebec. In Toronto, Line 9 crosses the Finch corridor, which is why the concert took place near Finch Station.
