It’s spring cleaning time again. Time to throw open the windows, and wipe the dust away. But what products should we use when cleaning house? Many commercial cleaning products are not only expensive, they also often contain nasty ingredients that are toxic to human health. Save money, and save yourself and the environment from solvents, carcinogens, and hormone disrupting chemicals by making your own cleaning products at home, from simple ingredients.
DIY Cleaning Liquid Recipe:
-6 tablespoons vinegar
-4 cups hot water
You can find sodium carbonate at the grocery store, and castile soap at the health food store. Mix these ingredients and you’ll have a washing liquid that is hard on dirt, but easy on you!
Not only is this recipe cost-effective, it’s also better for your health, and for the health of those you live with. And remember that everything that goes down the drain end up in rivers and lakes. In making non-toxic cleaning products, you’re also doing waterways and wildlife a favour, cleaning your own home, and keeping the homes of nature’s creatures toxic-free too.
