I spend a lot of time thinking about problems. I need to spend more time celebrating solutions—like what I did today.
This afternoon was just great. Spent it at a snazzy, very green hostel, celebrating the first year of Ontario’s Green Energy Act. (Probably the first time I’ve been in a hostel sober, but that’s a whole other blog.)
It’s not everyday you have a room full of trade union leaders and companies, a First Nations chief and farmer, two political parties and environmentalists all liking the same thing. But clean, renewable energy makes for a diverse room.
The jobs, closed coal plants, and economic rejuvenation in rural Ontario and on reserve are reason for a party. You can check out the details in the report we released. Who knew Ontario is ahead of where Spain and France were after one year of their green energy programs?
But sometimes, we lose sight of a great story by focusing on facts.
And the great story that’s going on in Ontario is that folks from all walks of life, and from all over the province, are turning on clean energy.
They came together today to hear each other’s stories, and have a bit of a party. Because we’re making a better economy and environment—and doing it together.
