NEWS AND UPDATES
Toronto City Council says yes to local food, again!
Last week, City Councillors voted almost unanimously to continue buying local food for city-run daycares and seniors’ homes. Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA), a steering committee member of the Ontario Greenbelt Alliance, led the charge, urging Toronto not take a step backwards on local food. Thanks to all 1,700 of you who signed the petition and were in touch with your councillors! For more information, read TEA's update or the article in NOW magazine.

New study says there is enough developable land for decades

The Credit River Valley is one of the most sensitive, natural resources in Peel County but heavy industries, dumping yards and parking lots now occupy this once pristine natural area. Sign the Ontario Sierra Club (Peel Region) petition to restore the Credity River Valley here.

Ontario's Greenbelt: Coming soon to a farmers market near you!

The Ontario Greenbelt has so much to offer Ontarians, from the Niagara grape growing and tender fruit area, to Holland Marsh, the Oak Ridges Moraine and more. This summer, Environmental Defence and the Ontario Greenbelt Alliance is bringing a virtual tour of the Greenbelt to a farmers' market near you. Using a gigantic Greenbelt map and fun activities like grape stomping and marsh farming, we'll show you all of what there is to explore in the Greenbelt. For more information on where we'll be, please get in touch with us at greenbelt@environmentaldefence.ca
