The Just Beautiful Pledge - Just BeautifulEnvironmental Defence’s Just Beautiful Pledge exists so that consumers can make informed decisions about the products they buy and to promote the good work of manufacturers and retailers making and/or selling products that are free of Environmental Defence's Toxic Ten ingredients. Environmental Defence has developed a set of benchmarks and tools to meet this pledge.
Environmental Defence’s Toxic Ten Ingredients:- Triclosan
- Artifical Musk
- Phthalates
- Petrolatum
- Formaldehyde releasing agents: quaternium-15, 1,4-dioxane
- Parabens
- Sodium Laureth Sulfate & Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
- Silicone chemicals: Cyclomethicone, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane
- Coal Tar-derived colours
- BHA (Butylated Hydroxyanisole) & BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene)
MANUFACTURERS THAT ARE ABLE TO PLEDGE NOW
By signing the Environmental Defence Just Beautiful Pledge, manufacturers agree with each of the following:
1. Company complies with Toxic Ten ingredient list and continues to improve safety above and beyond regulations from packaging to production. Company does not have the Toxic Ten ingredients in ANY of their products.
2. Disclose ALL ingredients
One of the most important concepts is transparency and public accountability. Company already has a full list of product ingredients, including components of fragrance and other mixtures, on their company website and point(s) of sale.
3. Participate in the Just Beautiful Campaign
Company will actively participate in the Just Beautiful Campaign by promoting the cause and the campaign, and providing annual signed certification of compliance with Pledge.
4. Contribute to the Campaign
Company will purchase either the Supporter Profile or Defender Profile for inclusion on the Just Beautiful website and in support of the Just Beautiful Campaign.
5. When requested, Company will provide:
A completed Pledge Form
A complete ingredient list of products to appear on the Just Beautiful website
Product samples (optional)
A link to the campaign from your website
MANUFACTURERS THAT ARE TRANSITIONAL
By signing the Environmental Defence Just Beautiful Compact, manufacturers agree to comply with each of the following:
1. Company is in transition to be clean of all Toxic Ten ingredients
Company will eliminate Toxic Ten ingredients from complete line within a time period to be determined by your company, and declared publicly on the Just Beautiful website.
2. Disclose ALL ingredients
One of the most important concepts is transparency and public accountability. Company already has a full list of product ingredients, including components of fragrance and other mixtures, on their company website and point(s) of sale.
3. Participate in the Just Beautiful Campaign
Company will actively participate in the Just Beautiful Campaign by promoting the cause and the campaign, and providing annual signed certification of compliance with the Pledge.
4. Contribute to the Campaign

2. Retailer carries products that do not contain any of the Toxic Ten ingredients.
3. Publicly post display of commitment on website
One of the most important concepts is transparency and public accountability. Retailer has a full list of product ingredients, including components of fragrance and other mixtures, at point(s) of sale.
4. Participate in the Just Beautiful Campaign
Company will actively participate in the Just Beautiful Campaign by promoting the cause and the campaign, and providing annual signed certification of compliance with the Pledge.
5. Contribute to the Campaign
Company will make a contribution for inclusion on the Just Beautiful website and in support of the Just Beautiful Campaign.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENCE PLEDGE
Environmental Defence is committed to working with Pledge and Transitional Pledge companies to meet the aims of the Just Beautiful campaign and to promote your good work. Environmental Defence will give advance notice to Pledge and Transitional Pledge companies of any changes to the Toxic Ten, the release of any reports or studies relating to the Toxic Ten and the Just Beautiful campaign, and any upcoming changes to cosmetics regulations in Canada (if known).
