There’s been a lot of awareness-raising about toxic chemicals in the last few years. Words like ‘Parabens'and ‘Phthalates’ are becoming so well-known that major retailers now carry items advertised as being free of these ingredients. But a great burden still rests on the shoulders of consumers who know many toxic chemicals lurk in the products we use every day, and want to make safer choices.

When we first issued the pocket shopping guide with our Toxic Ten list of chemicals  to avoid, many people asked us to name some good examples. I am happy to tell you that with the re-launch of our justbeautiful.ca site we are offering recommendations in two ways.
When companies take the Just Beautiful Pledge, they can have products that are free of the Toxic Ten, with full ingredients disclosed, listed on our site.

We have also been working with a campaign cabinet, a great group of volunteers who are offering their personal recommendations.
While we are here to help you make safer choices, we are also campaigning to give Canada’s cosmetics regulations a make-over, to get the Toxic Ten off the shelves.  Sign our petition here, or send the link to a friend to spread the word!

Finding Safer Alternatives

says:

So good to know the battle to clean up skin care products continues. The more people can learn about the dangers and effects of toxic compounds used in everyday products, the more people will make informed choices about what they use and reject those that contain harmful chemicals. We wish you luck with this campaign.
