With our work maintaining healthy ecosystems, we hope that those waters will continue to be able to produce healthy fish populations for centuries to come – that means that sustainable and responsible fishing are essential.

But it also means that a little healthy harvesting is encouraged!

Here’s some great fishing spots we know and love:

  • Port Franks marina is a great launching point into waters that have been serving the small fishing community for generations. It's also been the outlet of the Ausable Channel (and the fish within it!) since its redirection from Grand Bend in 1875.

  • Bayfield Beach offers a pier overlooking the mouth of the Bayfield River, so it’s a great spot during the fish runs.

  • And from the pier or by boat, the water around the Halifax Waterfront still offers some ‘holy mackerel!’ moments.

So put on your most pocketcovered vest, bait your hook, and cast off under a Blue Flag!
