Did you know the Great Lakes hold hundreds of shipwrecks that you can explore in their depths? Lucky for you the Great Lakes also boast a number of Blue Flag beaches to keep your diving clean and healthy.
Wasaga Beach is on the shores of Georgian Bay, a short drive away from
Fathom Five National Marine Park, which has over 21 shipwrecks. Bring your diving gear and check out the buried treasures that lie off the shore.
Grand Bend offers a shallow dive to the
Wexford shipwreck. Check out the history of this ship that sank in the Great Storm of 1913. The Wexford remained elusive after sinking, it wasn’t till 87 years after that a fisherman found her off the Blue Flag shores of Grand Bend.
Halifax Harbour is home to nearly
150 wrecks. The Atlantic coast, a short drive from Halifax, has over
5,000 shipwrecks including hundred year old schooners to modern day cargo ships. Over 600 underwater species have made their home among these wrecks and are ready to be explored.
