Aviva Friedman,
Communications Coordinator

Aviva's journey to Environmental Defence has been long, green, and windy. Fresh out of a humanity-focused undergraduate degree at McGill University, she spent a summer at the Ministry of the Environment, researching renewables, freshening up her filing skills, and endlessly pining to get her hands dirty in the communications field. She moved on to the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation, where she dabbled in the art of grant-making and discovered an unhealthy love for cooking with local foods; but, she couldn't quite satiate her hunger to communicate the good word on the environment. So, she blogged at every opportunity, contributed to the website, and spearheaded the Foundation's first-ever youth video competition. And, soon she was offered an opportunity to join the Environmental Defence communications team, where she's been happily facebooking, blogging and tweeting with you ever since.

In her spare time, Aviva has been known to butter people up with her award-winning baked goods. She can also be found exploring the city by bike, scoping out farmers markets, visiting friends in far off places, and hanging with her favourite cat, Cashew.
