Beach the heat, Toronto!

Toronto has eight transit-accessible Blue Flag beaches where people in the city can go to cool off.

As Toronto swelters under the extreme heat alert issued by Toronto Public Health, and they advise us to check in with our family, friends and neighbours who may be older or otherwise vulnerable to this incredible heat, we say do one better - take them to one of Toronto’s fantastic Blue Flag beaches for a refreshing dip!

The city's beaches have been beating the province’s very strict water quality standards almost every day since testing began in June. This is particularly impressive as Ontario has some of the highest standards in the world for recreational swim water quality, and Toronto does one better by testing the beaches daily.

I’m particularly fond of the Island beaches (Ward's, Centre, Hanlan's and Gibraltar), but if you’re in Scarborough today, swing by our newest award winner, Bluffer’s Park Beach. Every single day this year it has had amazing water quality, and the views of the horizon and thousands of years old Bluffs from the beach are phenomenal!
