The State Department has concluded that the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline would “contribute to cumulative global greenhouse gas emissions.” The pipeline will lead to more tar sands development, more pollution and more dangerous climate change.

This report proves that the pipeline fails the President’s climate test. The President now has the information he needs in this report to reject the pipeline. Keystone XL is all risk and no reward for Canadians, Americans and our shared climate.

The bottom line is that it will never be easy to build another giant pipeline in North America. There is too much at stake. This should be a wake-up call for Canada that we need to plan for a smarter, clean energy future, which is better for our economy and our environment.
