The grand daughter of the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau has agreed to come to Grand Bend for Aquafest 2011. We’re still firming up sponsors to help make it happen but we’ve got some excellent support, so far.

This year, Aquafest is growing with participation by the Chippewa of Kettle and Stony Point First Nations. They have secured the Women Water Walkers to perform a ceremony at Kettle Point and Grand Bend. This year’s celebrity judge at Purdy’s popular Great Lakes Chowder Competition will be Chef Anthony Walsh of Toronto’s legendary Canoe restaurant. And, Ontario’s Minister of the Environment, the Honourable John Wilkinson will also be participating this year.

Our signature events are all back this year, as well: the children’s educational activities, the student art contest, the art exhibits, the photo contest, the displays, canoe rides, hikes, face painting, and music. We will be spread out over five locations including River Road, the Pinery, the Legion and Youth Centre, and the beaches at Grand Bend and Ipperwash.
