Kingsville, ON – Experts predict that this year’s toxic algal bloom on Lake Erie may be one of the worst ever recorded. On the one year anniversary of last year’s public health advisory alerting Pelee Island residents not to use lake water due to toxic contaminants produced by algae, the Canadian Freshwater Alliance, Environmental Defence, and Freshwater Future Canada are organizing a boat trip for media to witness this year’s bloom around the island.
During the tour, environmental experts and local residents will speak about the impact the bloom is having on the environment, quality of life, and economic vitality of the region.
